I'm in the minority here who thinks Carrol is good player who still is an asset to have in the team.

Carroll is a one trick pony, but in terms of options it's a useful trick to have. Lucas on the other hand is a no trick pony, unless you count being fit a trick, he offers nothing else.

Carroll won't be here in the summer and I doubt Lucas will either unless he starts showing up.

Boring game, crap atmosphere, but we're through and I was impressed by the turnout.

Millwall still in?

Didn’t go but glad to see us get through & hopefully can get a couple of more home draws against lower teams & watch the top 6 get drawn together.

4th Round draw is on BBC1 after Wolves v Liverpool on Monday night.
We are BALL 22

50millionquid Carroll...

A Sullivan/BFS Folly...
1.47millionquid per goal so far...

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
Alfs he should have had hat trick against a mid-table Championship team yesterday but he didn’t he spooned the ball one over the bar from 8 yards and failed to control a through ball and a 1 on 1 with the keeper, Silva, Chich or Perez would have buried both of them. I do actually feel a bit sorry for him he just doesn’t fit in with the team as awhole. 90k a week is a lot for someone is who injured so often it’s not his fault but we could have someone on that money that plays regularly

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
We don't really play a way that suits him any more.
Still playing himself back into form after being out a long time.
Doesn't seem to be the powerful, disruptive and aerially dominant player he once was, though, and I think we will move on soon. I don't dislike him though.

One thing, though. He gets absolutely no help from officials. Gets fouled all the time and hardly ever a free kick is given. Then all he has to do is breathe on an opponent to get something given against him. That undoubtedly does not help his game.

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
I think many here are a bit harsh on Carroll. Yes, his injury problems are well documented but he hardly gets injured on purpose. And as for his wages, why does that bother people, it's not that we can't afford it? We just paid KB an extra quarter of a million on top of her normal massive wage for her 'consultancy' skills.

A fully fit AC would have got a hat-trick today, but instead, scored one and stopped one going in. That's a decent effort IMO.

Game was not shown in Oz, but im assuming Nasri did ok? As im sure anything but a half decent showing he would have been cunted to death given the reaction to his signing from some.

Hope he does well and has not lost the great ability he obviously has, saw his post match interview and was very positive, think he maybe a changed more mature player to the arrogant French thug cunt he previously was?

Thats exactly how I feel about Carroll, hoof ball striker from tha days of BFS out of place in the new team and the fast touch and go football , 90k a week. He was good in his day but never a prolific scorer

Carroll scored against a top 10 Championship side. Like Tommy Taylor 2 heads instead of 2 feet would he handy,

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
I think Andy Carroll is being criticised for being Andy Carroll. He has his qualities and when fully fit and firing is an asset. There are few strikers better at attacking a ball in both boxes.

However, everywhere else on the pitch he is very limited. He doesn't run in behind as he has very little pace and doesn't press opponents on the ball. For large parts of the game he is a passenger, especially if the team isn't playing to his strengths. What's worse, when this happens he starts to drop deep to find the ball, and more times than not ends up fucking about with it and choosing the wrong option.

I'm no fan of Perez but we looked much better when he came on vs Brighton as he provides some mobility and puts more pressure on opposition defences. There is a reason that Brendan Rodgers wanted to get rid of Carroll when he joined Liverpool; you can't carry an immobile lump if you want to be a top team. As a plan B or C impact sub option maybe.

Carroll's best contributions today were in our own box defending corners. However, following one of these the backline pushed up and he trundled out in typically pedestrian fashion leaving half of the Birmingham team onside when the ball was played back in. Pleased he got his goal today but the miss before that was pretty shocking.

I think he will play a role for the rest of the season but I hope it's occasionally as an impact sub as opposed to starting. I think there's very little chance of him being here beyond that.

Because Carroll is all but permanently injured, takes forever to get fit, gets paid loads for being injured, looks like a carthorse?

Was at the game today, massive turn out from Birmingham.

A poor performance the only saving grace was Grady.

He was full of running and endeavor most of his stuff didn't come off but he never stopped trying.

Re: West Ham v Birmingham - Official Match Thread
If Carroll stays fit he’ll be an asset, always manages to score and plays his part in defensive set pieces.

Better than that cunt Perez anyway.
